consultant to ensure compliance, a multi-phase playground design was established that would allowing flexibility for future projects within a tight budget.
A series of naturalized spaces were designed that accommodate existing playground equipment, wobble logs, slides, a stump seat classroom, and an outdoor amphitheater
The existing grade difference offers the opportunity for a raised refuge of the clubhouse and perch above the main play space. Equipped with fortified railings a secret exit down the back stair or slide, the clubhouse is a natural gathering space that can house up to ten children.
The length of the space was creatively used to its full advantage by creating a winding running loop that undulates up and down and moves around planting, with the flagpole marking one end and a tall upright log marking the other.
Natural logs, stones, mulch and plantings create a softness in the landscape that contrasts the harsh previous conditions
